Scott McKane:

Splitting Colonies to expand your Apiary

Scott McKane is the Founder and Owner of McKane Apiaries. In 2010, he became interested in owning bees, and after attending a beginner's beekeeping class Jan 2011, he started his journey of becoming a beekeeper.

Join us to learn:

  • Evaluating the colony size/strength before splitting

  • What time of year is best to split a hive

  • What resources are needed to make a successful split

  • Post split care

Join us the evening of Thursday, April 9 at Desert Door Distillery, 211 Darden Hill Rd, Driftwood, TX 78619 at 5:30 to 8pm for a night of bee-camaraderie, with food available to order and delicious drinks and mocktails with a Texas sotol twist!
